Post-Op Instructions
After Discharge from the Hospital or Surgical Facility
- Your surgical incision will be protected by a gauze pad and a transparent adhesive bandage (commonly known as “Tegaderm” or “op-site”).
- Keep this bandage in place for 14 days post-surgery.
- The adhesive bandage is waterproof, allowing you to shower, but do not immerse the incision in water (e.g., bathtubs, hot tubs, or swimming pools).
- Tegaderm bandages are available at most pharmacies.
- If the gauze becomes wet due to showering or incision drainage, contact the nursing team to replace it with clean, dry gauze.

When to Seek Medical Assistance
Contact our medical team at +91 9512131317 immediately if you notice any of the following:
- Increased pain, swelling, redness, bleeding, or discharge at the incision site.
- Separation or opening of the incision edges.
- A fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher.
Two Weeks Post-Surgery
- You have a follow-up appointment scheduled 14 days after surgery. Please confirm the appointment time one day prior by calling +91 9512131317 .
- Sutures are typically removed during this visit.
- Your surgeon will provide guidance on resuming bathing or showering.
- If you are using a neck or back brace, remove it only during showers unless otherwise instructed.
Activity Guidelines for Recovery at Home
General Activity Recommendations
Engaging in light, appropriate activity after surgery promotes faster recovery. Prolonged bed rest (e.g., two weeks) can increase the risk of complications such as pressure sores, blood clots, or respiratory issues. However, balance is key—overexertion may lead to fatigue or increased pain. Listen to your body to determine your limits, which may vary depending on your surgery type.
Most patients can manage self-care soon after surgery and do not require constant supervision. You may need occasional help with tasks like meal preparation, wound checks, or grocery shopping, but full-time assistance is typically unnecessary.
Activity Tips for Optimal Recovery:
- Your surgical team will inform you when it’s safe to resume specific activities based on your procedure.
- Avoid forward bending, sitting on the floor, or lifting heavy objects until cleared by your surgeon.
- Refrain from pushing or pulling
